Noor-e-Islam Mosque, Islamic prayer hall in Saint-Denis, Réunion Island, France.

Noor-e-Islam Mosque is a prayer hall topped by a 32-meter minaret, with windows designed to reflect the colors of the French flag in its architectural scheme. The interior accommodates around 500 worshippers and features carefully considered structural elements throughout.

Construction started in the 1890s after local merchants submitted a petition, and the building reached its current form by 1905. It became the first mosque established in French territory.

The mosque serves as a gathering place for Muslims in the city and plays a central role in community life. Daily prayers and religious gatherings bring people together regularly.

Visitors should know that the building is reserved for prayer at specific times, particularly during the five daily prayer sessions. It is best to check exact visiting times in advance and dress appropriately for a sacred space.

The facility is managed by the Association Islam Sounnate Djamatte, which also operates an adjoining school that functions under French state partnership. This connection between mosque and educational institution shows how the building serves purposes beyond simple worship.
