Église Notre-Dame-de-la-Délivrance

Église Notre-Dame-de-la-Délivrance is a Neo-Gothic church in Saint-Denis, Reunion Island, built with split stone masonry. Its facade features three entrances, a central round window, and decorative touches, while the interior contains various furnishings and artworks.

The church was built between 1893 and 1897 as an expression of Neo-Gothic architecture on the island. It received official recognition as a historical monument in 1996.

Inside, you can see paintings created in the early 1900s and stained glass windows made by craftspeople from Grenoble. These artworks shape the interior and show the artistic tradition that took root in this place.

The building sits near the Saint-Denis River on a public square and is easy to reach by foot. A forecourt area and grotto are part of the grounds where visitors can explore at their own pace.

The building is adorned with about 30 clay statues that mark its exterior and make it an unusual example of this architectural period. These figures give the structure a handcrafted quality that is rarely seen in religious buildings of that time.
