Frégate Island, Private island in Seychelles, Indian Ocean
The granite island extends over 2 square kilometers with Mount Signal reaching an elevation of 125 meters above the Indian Ocean waters.
The island received its name from explorer Lazare Picault during the 18th century due to the large population of frigate birds inhabiting the area.
The island maintains a balance between luxury tourism and environmental protection through its sixteen villas and extensive conservation programs.
Visitors access the island via private helicopter or boat transfers, with internal transportation limited to golf buggies, bicycles, and walking paths.
The island houses over 2,200 Aldabra giant tortoises and serves as a nesting ground for endangered Hawksbill and Green sea turtles.
