Anse source d´argent

Anse Source d'Argent is a sand beach on La Digue with white sand and massive granite boulders rising from the water. The shallow water shimmers in turquoise shades and benefits from a coral reef zone that shields the shore from strong currents.

The beach gained attention when film crews used it during the 1990s for international productions seeking natural, remote locations. Those film appearances introduced the place to travelers around the world.

The beach draws visitors seeking refuge under palm trees with the sound of waves nearby. People come here to escape daily routines and experience the natural surroundings in a relaxed way.

The beach is reached through L'Union Estate, a historic property on the island where you obtain entry beforehand. It is best to arrive early in the day when fewer people are present and the light is best for photos.

At low tide here a special event unfolds: the water level drops significantly and reveals hidden sand banks between the granite rocks. In these moments visitors can explore areas that are normally submerged and discover new perspectives on the landscape.
