Greater Beedelup National Park, Nature reserve in Shire of Nannup, Australia
Greater Beedelup National Park is a nature reserve in the Shire of Nannup in southwestern Australia. The park contains extensive stands of karri trees that reach heights of 90 meters and is crossed by Beedelup Brook, which features a waterfall.
The area was protected as a Class A Reserve starting in 1915. This designation was upgraded to national park status in 2004, marking an important step in its long-term conservation.
The name Beedelup comes from the Nyoongar word Beedja, meaning 'place of rest' in the Aboriginal language. This connection to the land reflects how the original inhabitants understood and valued this forest.
The Beedelup Loop Walk is a 4.5-kilometer trail that guides visitors through the forest to key areas of interest. The path is well-marked and offers regular stopping points to explore the surroundings.
A suspension bridge built in 1995 crosses Beedelup Brook and offers direct views of the waterfall below. This structure is a highlight of visiting the area and provides an up-close perspective on the cascading water.
