Boorabbin National Park, Nature reserve in Coolgardie Shire, Australia.

Boorabbin National Park is a nature reserve along Great Eastern Highway, featuring sand soils atop a plateau with kwongan heaths and open woodlands throughout. The landscape contains varied vegetation zones that create different habitats across the protected area.

The area became a national park in 1977, named after a former settlement that supplied water to steam locomotives around 1898. This early role in railway operations helped shape the region's development.

The Kalaamaya people maintain deep traditional ties to this land, shown through rock art and patterns of land use that remain visible today.

This remote location requires visitors to bring plenty of water and personal emergency beacons, as facilities are minimal and scattered. Summer heat demands careful planning to ensure your comfort and safety throughout your visit.

The park holds three semi-arid banksia species, including the rare Lullfitz's banksia found in very few places, alongside more than 50 species each of reptiles and birds. This rich variety of wildlife reveals the biodiversity hidden within this dry landscape.
