Indonesian World Records Museum, National records museum in Semarang, Indonesia
The Indonesian World Records Museum is a record-keeping institution in Semarang, Central Java, housing over 1200 achievements from the country. The exhibition features photographs, documents, and physical items displayed in glass cases across approximately 600 square meters.
The museum was founded in 1990 by Jaya Suprana as Museum Rekor Indonesia, initially focusing on national records. In 2005, it expanded its scope to include international records and broadened its collection.
The museum displays achievements from people across different walks of life, from crafts to sports, reflecting what matters to Indonesian communities. These records show the diverse talents and skills found throughout the country.
The museum is located in Srondol Kulon Village and can be reached via Perintis Kemerdekaan Street. Weekday visits work best when arriving in the morning before afternoon closing time.
A three-meter-tall lipstick stands as one of the most photographed objects in the museum and immediately catches the eye. This oversized artwork consistently draws visitor attention.
