Noefefan Bridge

The Noefefan Bridge stretches across the Tono River with three 120-meter arches reaching 20 meters above water level, connecting Pante Macassar to remote towns.

Construction of the bridge began in April 2015 and reached completion in June 2017, when President Francisco Guterres inaugurated this critical infrastructure project.

The bridge stands in Lifau, the first European settlement on Timor island, marking the transition between historical isolation and modern connectivity for local communities.

The bridge structure spans 380 meters with a width of 10.2 meters, providing passage for approximately 3,600 families to access markets and services in Pante Macassar.

Engineers modified the initial truss design to create three connected arches following recommendations from Waagner Biro Indonesia, resulting in a 2,000-ton steel structure.
