Canberra Centenary Column, Stainless steel monument in City Hill, Canberra, Australia

The Canberra Centenary Column rises 8.5 meters with a granite-dressed concrete base of 5 meters width, featuring glass tiles and etched steel panels.

The column, unveiled on March 11, 2014, draws inspiration from the original Commencement Column proposed during Canberra's establishment in 1913 but never constructed.

Local artist Geoff Farquhar-Still designed this monument incorporating glass tiles by artist Liz Kelly based on Walter Burley Griffin's geometric patterns.

The monument stands at Vernon Circle in City Hill, serving as a central reference point for visitors exploring the Australian Capital Territory.

A time capsule containing 100 objects, from rare artifacts to everyday items, rests within the base, scheduled for opening during Canberra's bicentenary.
