Stadium Southland

Stadium Southland is an indoor sports facility in Invercargill with seven courts and seating capacity for around 4500 spectators. The complex includes modern changing rooms, conference spaces, and dedicated areas designed for multiple indoor sports.

The original stadium opened in 2000, but suffered severe damage in 2014 when heavy snow caused the roof to collapse. Following this disaster, the facility was completely reconstructed from the ground up.

The venue is home to the Southern Steel netball team and Southland Sharks basketball team, who play here regularly before crowds. These teams shape the city's sports identity and draw spectators throughout the season.

The facility is located in Surrey Park and easily accessible with ample parking on site. Visitors should arrive early for events to secure good seating, especially during major games or competitions.

The roof collapse in 2014 was a rare weather extreme for the region and turned the stadium into a case study for rebuilding after natural disasters. The new design incorporates reinforced safety measures against heavy snow loads.
