Wellington Museum, Maritime museum in Wellington City, New Zealand.
Wellington Museum occupies the Bond Store, a four-story building, and displays collections that document how the harbor city developed over time. The exhibition spaces combine historical artifacts with modern installations and interactive displays on each level.
The building dates from 1892 and originally served as a warehouse for cargo arriving at Wellington Harbor. The Bond Store played a key role in the city's trading history before later becoming a museum.
The Ngā Heke exhibition presents different perspectives of Te Whanganui a Tara through Māori artifacts and contemporary artworks from local artists. These pieces show how the city and its harbor are rooted in indigenous culture and still shape how people understand this place today.
The museum opens daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and provides full wheelchair access throughout all exhibition areas. You can explore all four floors easily since elevators and accessible routes are available.
The Attic section combines steampunk design elements with cinematic installations to present Wellington's history through interactive storytelling. This area uses design and visual techniques to let visitors engage with museum content in an unusual and engaging way.
