Deloitte Centre, Office skyscraper in Commercial Bay, New Zealand
The Deloitte Centre is an office tower with 23 floors and a height of 100 meters in Auckland's Commercial Bay. A distinctive two-story architectural element crowns the roof and gives the building its recognizable appearance.
The building replaced a Bank of New Zealand office block from 1978, standing on the site of the historic Victoria Arcade dating to 1885. It represents one of several transformations that have reshaped Auckland's city center over the decades.
This tower occupies a site that was once part of the natural waterfront, reflecting how the city reshaped its shoreline over generations. Today it stands as part of Auckland's shift from a harbor city to a modern financial district.
Four basement parking levels with around 170 spaces are accessible from Fort Street, making it easy to reach by car. The ground floor contains retail units that serve as a natural entrance point to the building.
The building earned a 5-star environmental rating in the Green Star category when it was completed in 2009. This recognition shows that sustainable design was already a priority in Auckland's growing downtown area at that time.
