The Northern Club

The Northern Club is a four-story quarrystone building located at the corner of Princes Street and Kitchener Street in downtown Auckland. The structure houses multiple dining venues and lounge areas spread throughout its interior.

The building was originally constructed in 1867 as the Royal Hotel and acquired its current name in 1869 when 120 founding members purchased the property. This transformation marked its shift from a hotel to a private members club in Auckland's business district.

The club functions as a gathering space for Auckland's business professionals and community leaders. You can sense how the building anchors professional networks in the heart of the city.

The building is centrally located and easily accessible on foot from Auckland's main business streets. The multi-story layout offers different levels with various rooms and facilities spread throughout.

The exterior walls have been covered with Virginia Creeper vines since 1927, creating a distinctive green facade in the middle of the city. This plant growth has become a recognizable feature that catches the eye immediately.
