Tchupala Falls, Multi-tiered waterfall in Far North Queensland, Australia
Tchupala Falls is a multi-tiered waterfall in Far North Queensland featuring three distinct cascades that drop one after another through the rainforest. Water flows from Henrietta Creek and plunges through thick tropical vegetation on its descent.
The waterfall remained largely unknown until 2018, when it was added to the trail system within Wooroonooran National Park. This development opened it to visitors and made it accessible as a destination.
The falls sit within a rainforest area that holds significance for the Yidinji people, the traditional inhabitants of this region. Visitors can sense this connection through the careful management and protection of the natural landscape.
The walk from the Palmerston Highway parking area to the waterfall covers about 600 meters and is fairly short. Some sections may be closed seasonally, so checking current conditions before your visit is helpful.
The waterfall is connected to an 11-kilometer trail network linking other falls such as Wallicher, Silver Creek, and Nandroya Falls. Visitors can explore multiple waterfalls in a single day while experiencing different sections of the rainforest.
