Tinaroo Falls is a waterfall on the Barron River formed where water drops sharply below the concrete dam wall. The cascade creates a distinctive water feature in the landscape inland from Cairns.
The dam was completed in 1958 and fundamentally altered the river by creating a water supply for farming in the region. The construction marked a turning point in how the landscape was used and developed.
