W. M. Keck Observatory, Observatory in Hawaii
The W. M. Keck Observatory is a two-telescope astronomical observatory at an elevation of 4,145 meters near the summit of Mauna Kea in Hawaii.
The observatory was established in 1993 and has been instrumental in many significant astronomical discoveries.
It is named after W. M. Keck Foundation which provided the funds for its construction.
The observatory's telescopes are among the largest optical/infrared telescopes in the world.
The Keck Observatory operates the only laser guide star adaptive optics system in the United States.
