ʻIolani Palace, Royal palace museum in downtown Honolulu, United States
The two-story American Florentine palace features grand rooms with original furnishings, including a throne room, state dining room, and private royal suites.
Built in 1879 for King Kalakaua, the palace served as the residence of Hawaiian monarchs until Queen Liliuokalani was overthrown in 1893.
The palace stands as a physical testament to the Hawaiian monarchy and contains numerous artifacts representing the traditions of Hawaiian royal governance.
Visitors can explore the palace through guided tours offered Tuesday through Saturday, with advance reservations recommended through the ticket office at Hale Koa.
The building remains the sole official royal residence within United States territory and contains the private quarters where Queen Liliuokalani faced imprisonment.
