Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden

Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden is a botanical garden on Hawaii's eastern side that features natural streams, multiple waterfalls, and thousands of plant species across its grounds. A wooden boardwalk guides visitors through the property and offers views toward the ocean.

The property was acquired by a private individual in 1977 who developed it into a public garden and opened it to visitors in 1984. Afterward, the land was transferred to a nonprofit organization to ensure its long-term care.

The site honors its past as a Hawaiian fishing community through preserved landscape elements that visitors encounter along the paths. These remnants tell the story of how people once lived and worked here.

The garden is accessible through marked hiking trails where visitors can move at their own pace through the grounds. Wearing comfortable, sturdy shoes is recommended since some paths are steep and moisture from the waterfalls can make surfaces slippery.

The garden shelters mango and coconut palm trees that are over a century old, standing alongside newer plantings throughout the property. These towering specimens are notable features that many visitors remember from their experience.
