Pima Air & Space Museum, Aviation museum in Tucson, United States
The Pima Air & Space Museum displays over 400 aircraft spread across 80 acres, ranging from military jets to commercial airliners and experimental models. The collection fills large indoor hangars as well as open-air exhibition spaces.
The institution opened in 1976 with a modest collection of aircraft and grew significantly over the following decades. Between the early 1980s and mid-1990s, four major hangars were constructed to house the expanding collection.
The museum houses an aviation hall dedicated to regional pioneers and their contributions, giving visitors insight into how local innovators shaped flight technology.
The museum is open daily with extended hours from October through May and reduced hours during summer months. Plan to spend several hours to explore the full collection at a comfortable pace.
The collection includes a Boeing 787 Dreamliner that was used for testing flights and is painted in Japanese airline colors. This particular aircraft was donated by Boeing and remains a rare sight outside an active hangar.
