Xetulul

Xetulul is a theme park in Retalhuleu that spans seven distinct plazas, each showcasing architectural styles from France, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. The grounds feature replicas of famous European structures intermixed with local design elements throughout the landscape.

The park opened in 2002 and quickly developed into one of Latin America's largest amusement destinations. This growth reflects the region's expansion in tourism and entertainment infrastructure.

The name comes from the K'iche' language and reflects a blend of world cultures. Walking through the grounds, you encounter replicas of European landmarks like the Trevi Fountain positioned alongside reconstructed Maya temples, creating a dialogue between different architectural traditions.

The park operates on weekends and holidays, making it suitable for day trips. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since the grounds are extensive and may include uneven terrain.

The park is home to Central America's only double-decker carousel, a rare vintage ride. Additionally, the Avalancha roller coaster features eight inversions, making it one of the most thrilling attractions in the region.
