The park extends across 267 hectares with sports facilities, including motocross tracks, soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a skating rink.
In 1974, under Mayor Anibal Fernandez administration, the Bogota Lottery parks division acquired the land despite concerns about its remote location.
The park serves as an educational center with a pedagogical nursery that offers environmental education programs focusing on local flora and fauna.
The recreational area contains 100 barbecue kiosks, camping zones, parking facilities, restrooms, and a 16-hectare lake for water activities.
The park hosts 40 bird species, including 30 endemic and 10 migratory species that visit between September and April.
