Puente Jenny Garzón, Pedestrian bridge in Engativá and Suba, Colombia.
The Jenny Garzón Bridge extends across 45 meters and connects the northwestern districts of Engativá and Suba at the intersection of Carrera 119 and Calle 80.
Inaugurated on December 30, 2003, the bridge was designed by architect Simón Vélez in collaboration with Marcelo Villegas for structural assembly.
The bridge honors Jenny Varinia Garzón Caicedo, an architect who studied bamboo construction and worked with Simón Vélez before her death in 2000.
The structure serves as a corridor for the bicycle path connecting Parque La Florida to the Lisboa neighborhood, facilitating daily commutes for local residents.
This bridge stands as the only pedestrian crossing in Bogotá constructed with guadua bamboo, weighing 130 tons and incorporating steel reinforcement.
