Puente Jenny Garzón

Puente Jenny Garzón, Pedestrian bridge in Engativá and Suba, Colombia.

Puente Jenny Garzón is a pedestrian bridge connecting the northwestern districts of Engativá and Suba in Bogotá. The structure spans 45 meters at the intersection of Carrera 119 and Calle 80.

The bridge opened in 2003 and was designed by architect Simón Vélez. His collaboration with structural engineer Marcelo Villegas made the innovative construction possible.

The bridge is named after Jenny Varinia Garzón Caicedo, an architect passionate about sustainable building materials and their potential. Her legacy continues through this structure that serves the local community every day.

The crossing functions as a link for the bicycle path connecting Parque La Florida with the Lisboa neighborhood. Local residents use this route daily for their journeys through both districts.

This is Bogotá's only pedestrian crossing built entirely from guadúa bamboo. The innovative approach shows how sustainable and lightweight construction methods can work in urban settings.
