Subachoque is a municipality positioned in the western region of the Bogotá savanna at an elevation of 2,663 meters above sea level. The settlement spreads across agricultural valleys with a rural character defined by scattered villages and farming communities.
The municipality was officially founded on March 16, 1774, when Spanish priest Jacinto Roque Salgado began colonization efforts after receiving royal approval. The settlement emerged as part of Spain's plan to establish communities in the highland regions surrounding Bogotá.
