San Felipe, Panama, UNESCO World Heritage district in Panama City, Panama.
The San Felipe neighborhood stretches across a peninsula with orthogonal streets, colonial buildings, and sections of the original defensive walls from 1678.
Following the destruction of the first Panama City by pirate Henry Morgan in 1671, San Felipe became the center of the new capital in 1673.
The Metropolitan Cathedral, Presidential Palace, and National Theatre demonstrate the architectural fusion of Spanish colonial and Caribbean styles in this district.
The district contains numerous restaurants, hotels, and museums within a compact 0.5 square kilometer area accessible through guided walking tours or independent exploration.
Stone blocks from the ruins of the original Panama City were transported and reused to construct several buildings in San Felipe.

Visitors can explore 16th-century ruins at Panama Viejo, walk through Casco Viejo's historic streets, and discover tropical forests at Metropolitan National Park. The city features waterfront boulevards, cultural venues, and architectural landmarks like the Frank Gehry-designed Biodiversity Museum. Urban parks and traditional markets complement the historical sites, while Ancon Hill provides city views.
