Obelisco a los Niños Héroes, Memorial obelisk in Chapultepec Park, Mexico
The white marble obelisk rises from a platform in Chapultepec Park, displaying inscriptions that honor Mexican military cadets.
Architect Ramón Rodríguez Arangoity designed this monument in 1881 to commemorate the young cadets who defended Mexico during the 1847 Battle of Chapultepec.
The monument serves as a central point for annual military ceremonies and national celebrations that strengthen Mexican identity and patriotic values.
Visitors can reach the obelisk by taking the Metro to Chapultepec station and walking through the park's main entrance on Paseo de la Reforma.
The obelisk lists the names of forty surviving cadets alongside the six who perished, providing a complete record of the military students present during the battle.
