Monterrey-Gen. Mariano Escobedo, International airport in Pesquería, Mexico.
Monterrey-Gen. Mariano Escobedo is an international airport located in Pesquería, in the state of Nuevo León, about 24 kilometers northeast of central Monterrey. The airport operates three separate terminals that handle domestic and international flights, with dedicated facilities for different airline alliances and low-cost carriers.
The airport opened on November 25, 1970, replacing the earlier Del Norte International Airport, which could no longer expand. Between 1976 and 1982, the facility underwent major expansion with the addition of a satellite building to accommodate growing traffic.
The facility bears the name of General Mariano Escobedo, connecting northern Mexico's industrial region with destinations across North America, Latin America, and Europe.
The airport is accessible by public buses and taxi desks located in the terminal area, with the journey to central Monterrey taking around 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. Arriving early usually means shorter waits at security, especially during morning hours outside of peak travel seasons.
An underground corridor connects the main building to a satellite area, completed in the early eighties. This passage allows passengers to reach distant gates without stepping outside the terminal complex.
