George Bush Park, County park in Harris County, Texas
George Bush Park extends across 7,800 acres within the Barker Reservoir, incorporating natural forests, waterways, and recreational facilities along Westheimer Parkway.
The land transformed from Stephen F. Austin colony settlement to ranching territory before becoming parkland in the 1940s when the U.S. Army Corps built Barker Reservoir.
The park changed its name from Cullen-Barker Park to George Bush Park in 1997, with former President George H.W. Bush attending the reopening ceremony.
Visitors access multiple soccer fields, baseball diamonds, dog parks, and 11.36 miles of trails for hiking and cycling between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily.
The American Shooting Centers occupy 563 acres at the southeast entrance, hosting national championships and providing equipment rental and professional instruction.
