Fredericksburg is a county seat in Gillespie County, located in central Texas, where main streets are lined with buildings featuring timber framing and historic facades. Colonists from Germany founded the settlement in the mid-nineteenth century and named it after a Prussian nobleman to honor their origin. The residents built their homes following the traditions of the old country and kept their language alive for several generations.
