Kaufman County, Administrative division in northeastern Texas, United States

Kaufman County is an administrative division in northeastern Texas covering a substantial land area with diverse terrain. The Trinity River marks the southwestern portion of the region and influences its natural geography.

The county was established in 1848 and named after David S. Kaufman, a US Representative from Texas. Kaufman served as a diplomat and helped shape the region's political development.

The county population of 145,310 residents represents a diverse mix of ethnicities, with substantial white, Hispanic, African American, and Asian American communities.

The county is well-connected by Interstate 20, U.S. Highway 80, and U.S. Highway 175, making travel to the Dallas-Fort Worth area straightforward. These major routes provide convenient access to surrounding communities and larger urban centers.

The region experienced one of the nation's fastest population growth rates between 2020 and 2022, attracting many newcomers from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This influx of residents led to new development and shifted the demographic makeup substantially.
