Founded in 1898 as Boaz Seminary, the institution received its current name in 1906 after businessman John H. Snead donated land and funding for campus expansion.

The college maintains 79 associate degree programs and 24 certificate programs, providing educational opportunities across diverse academic and technical fields for regional students.

Students can participate in various athletic programs including baseball, basketball, golf, softball, tennis, and volleyball while pursuing their academic studies.

The McCleskey Hall, constructed in 1909, marked a milestone as the first building in Boaz to incorporate electrical systems and indoor plumbing facilities.
