Zapallar

Zapallar is a coastal town in Petorca Province situated between evergreen forests and the Pacific Ocean at 50 meters elevation. Italian-style houses with landscaped gardens form the main architectural character of the settlement.

The settlement was founded in 1889 and developed from an untouched coastal area into a residential district that attracted wealthy Chilean families. These residents chose this location deliberately to build their seaside properties.

The stone church in the center serves as a meeting place where locals gather for religious services and community occasions throughout the year. The building creates a focal point that brings residents together regularly.

Visitors can access three main beaches named El Abanico, Aguas Blancas, and Playa Grande, each offering different water activities and coastal experiences. The beaches are easily reached and provide varied options depending on interests.

The settlement benefits from a protective microclimate that shields it from strong coastal winds and creates favorable conditions for outdoor pursuits. This natural shelter also allows the cultivation of lush gardens that define the area's appearance.
