Navegantes

Navegantes is a port city on Brazil's southern Atlantic coast, stretching across roughly ten kilometers of beaches and bordered by rivers on both sides. The landscape combines open coastal stretches with harbor installations where fishing and commercial vessels operate daily.

The city began as a fishing village in the 1960s and transformed into a major port and industrial center. This shift shaped the region's economy and attracted maritime industries and infrastructure development.

The Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes shapes religious life here, with annual celebrations in February that bring residents and visitors together for processions. These traditions show how deeply the community connects to its seafaring heritage and its patron saint of sailors.

The Ministro Victor Konder International Airport connects the city to major Brazilian hubs with regular flights, making arrival straightforward. Beachfront areas are walkable, and visitors can easily explore the shores and port zones on foot or by local transport.

A pier stretching more than 800 meters was built in 1930 to guide vessels into port and remains in use today. The lighthouse at its end serves as an observation point where visitors can watch harbor activity and the open sea.
