Beto Carrero World, Theme park in Penha, Brazil.
Beto Carrero World is an amusement park in Penha on the southern coast of Brazil with ten themed areas and over 60 attractions. The complex covers a large site and combines rides with shows and an animal park.
Entrepreneur João Batista Sérgio Murad opened the complex in late December 1991 on the Santa Catarina coast. Later additions included themed areas and international partnerships that made it one of the largest parks in Latin America.
The Portuguese name comes from the founder and now refers to an entertainment center that draws people from across Brazil and neighboring countries. Visitors also see replicas of European villages and a zoo with native South American animals.
The complex opens most days of the year and offers day tickets as well as annual passes for multiple visits. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and plan enough time, as the site is large.
A partnership with DreamWorks brings characters from popular animated films into live shows, including a circus performance featuring characters from Madagascar. The site also includes a castle entrance with elements from different architectural styles.
