Cascade du Chaudron, Waterfall in Saint-Denis, Réunion Island, France
The Chaudron Waterfall drops 500 meters through a deep canyon, creating multiple cascades that flow into a natural basin at the bottom.
The waterfall served as a water source for the local population of Saint-Denis until safety concerns led to access restrictions in 1998.
The waterfall remains a significant element of Saint-Denis' natural heritage, representing the raw power of Réunion Island's water systems.
Access to the waterfall requires following Chemin de la Bretagne, then Chemin de Bois-Rouge, and finally Chemin des Fougères for a 6.7-kilometer round trip.
The waterfall operates through natural water resurgence from the cliff face, maintaining a steady flow throughout the year except during winter months.
