Rotonda West, Residential community in Charlotte County, Florida.
Rotonda West is a planned residential community in southwest Florida organized around a network of canals, ponds, and lakes. The waterways run throughout the development and create green spaces between residential neighborhoods.
Development began in 1970 when the land was purchased and a new master plan was created for the site. The design was inspired by a historical model from an earlier era.
The community draws residents from every state in the United States and international locations, creating a varied population of 10,114 as of 2020.
The community park provides facilities including tennis courts, pickleball courts, nature trails, and a pavilion that can be used by visitors. These recreational areas are spread throughout the neighborhoods.
The community is laid out with eight residential segments arranged in a circular pattern around a central park and natural preserve. This radial design creates an unusual structure for an American residential development.
