Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Nature reserve and National Natural Landmark in Collier County, United States.
The 2.25-mile boardwalk crosses multiple habitats, including the largest remaining stand of virgin bald cypress forest in North America.
The National Audubon Society began managing the sanctuary in 1955 and built the first boardwalk to protect cypress trees from extensive logging.
The sanctuary functions as a gateway site for the Great Florida Birding Trail and supports educational programs about wetland conservation.
Located 30 minutes northeast of Naples, Florida, the sanctuary welcomes visitors daily from 8 AM to 3 PM with last admission at 1 PM.
The sanctuary contains the largest wood stork nesting colony in the United States and provides shelter for numerous endangered species.
