The facility was founded in 1957 by Cecil Clemons, who initially collected local alligators and later acquired wild crocodiles from Jamaica in the 1960s. These early collections formed the foundation of the operation.
The annual Gator Hatchling Festival in August permits visitors to participate in the hatching process of alligator eggs, promoting wildlife education.
