Warner Robins, Military city in Central Georgia, United States
Warner Robins stretches across Houston and Peach counties, roughly 10 miles south of Macon at 93 meters elevation. The city has around 80,000 residents and sits near the large Robins Air Force Base installation.
The settlement began as a small farming village called Wellston and became a city in 1943 after Robins Air Force Base was founded. The place grew rapidly with the arrival of military families and base workers.
The Museum of Aviation displays a wide collection of military aircraft and ranks among the largest Air Force museums in the United States. Visitors can explore the exhibits at no cost and view many machines up close.
Interstate 75 and Highway 129 run straight through the city and link it to Atlanta in the north and other destinations in Georgia. Macon lies just minutes to the north and offers additional connections and services.
Teams from Warner Robins won the Little League World Series twice, the boys in baseball in 2007 and the girls in softball in 2009. Both victories happened within two years and brought the city nationwide recognition in youth sports.
