Alpharetta, Suburban city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States.
Alpharetta is a suburban city in Fulton County, Georgia, roughly 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Atlanta. The area combines residential streets with shopping centers, office parks and green spaces along wide roads.
The settlement became the county seat of Milton County in 1858 and held that role until the merger with Fulton County in 1931. After decades as a small town, the area grew rapidly from the 1980s onward with new residents moving from Atlanta.
The city maintains multiple performance venues, art galleries, and entertainment centers that showcase local talents and national performers throughout the year.
Georgia State Route 400 runs directly through the city and connects it with Atlanta to the south. Many hotels and restaurants sit along Windward Parkway and North Point Parkway in the eastern part.
The Simeon and Jane Rucker Log House from 1833 still stands near the old town center. It is one of the oldest surviving buildings in this part of the Atlanta metropolitan area.
