The Point Bonita Lighthouse is perched on the rocky promontory of the Marin Headlands on the San Francisco Bay entrance.
Established in 1855, it was the third lighthouse built on the west coast of the United States.
Symbolic for guiding mariners safely through the treacherous Golden Gate waters.
Currently managed by the National Park Service, accessible to visitors during limited hours.
Features a 56-foot tower and the Point Bonita Suspension Bridge, a notable engineering feat.
