The Flintstone House

The Flintstone House is an experimental residential building in Hillsborough defined by curved walls, domed ceilings, and three bedrooms arranged throughout its living space. The vibrant orange and purple interior colors create an unconventional living environment that sets it apart from typical homes.

Architect William Nicholson designed the house in 1976 using an innovative spraying method in which concrete was applied to steel frames and inflated balloons. This pioneering construction technique opened new possibilities for residential building at the time.

The property displays steel dinosaur sculptures and cartoon characters throughout its garden, making it a recognizable landmark for travelers passing by. These playful decorations reflect the owner's creative vision and give the house a distinctive presence in the neighborhood.
