The Grizzly

The Grizzly is a wooden roller coaster at Great America in Santa Clara, featuring a traditional out-and-back layout that takes riders on a twisting journey through the park. The ride cycles through a series of turns and descents that vary in intensity throughout the course.

The ride was designed by Curtis D. Summers and opened to visitors in 1986 as part of Great America. Major track enhancements were completed in 2014 and 2017 to improve the experience.

The coaster represents a traditional American amusement park experience with its double out and back track layout inspired by the Wildcat at Coney Island.

Each train holds 28 riders across seven cars with two rows of seats in each. All passengers must meet a minimum height requirement to ride safely.

The track winds through a wooded section of the park where trees frame the curves and drops in unexpected ways. This forested setting creates the impression of moving faster through natural surroundings.
