Oakland International Airport, International airport in Alameda, US.
Oakland International Airport is an international airport in Oakland, California, offering connections across North America. The facility spreads over a large site with two passenger terminals and a total of 29 gates serving both domestic and cross-border flights.
The airport opened in 1927 as a civilian facility and was taken over by the Navy during World War II as Naval Air Station Oakland. After the war ended, it returned to civilian operations and grew into a major hub for passenger and cargo traffic on the West Coast.
The terminals display artwork and photographs by local artists that capture life around San Francisco Bay. Visitors can view images along the walls and in waiting areas showing maritime scenes, aviation moments, and everyday life in the region.
The airport is reached by a direct train link with Bay Area Rapid Transit, running every six minutes from the terminals into downtown. Walkways and signs guide travelers from the terminals to the train station, located a few minutes on foot.
The airport operates its own cargo routes to Asia with regular connections to several cities in China and Japan. These freight lines have made Oakland a key point for goods traffic between the West Coast and East Asia.
