Point Isabel, Dog park on San Francisco Bay Trail in Richmond, California

Point Isabel is a regional shoreline park along San Francisco Bay featuring open grasslands, sandy areas, and waterfront trails. The site includes picnic facilities, dog-friendly beach sections, and expansive views across the water toward the Golden Gate and Marin County.

The site was originally an industrial and waste area but was acquired by the East Bay Regional Park District in 1975 and transformed into a public recreation space. This conversion restored public access to an abandoned stretch of shoreline.

Point Isabel Dog Owners and Friends organization coordinates training sessions, clean-up events, and seasonal gatherings to maintain park standards.

The park opens early in the morning through evening hours and provides free parking with waste bins distributed throughout the grounds. Visitors should know that space is plentiful even during busy times because the area is quite large.

The water is regularly tested for quality, and many visitors enjoy exploring areas where oyster reefs appear and waterbirds breed. These natural features make the location more than just a dog area and show the restored ecology of the shoreline.
