Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, Aviation and space museum in McMinnville, United States
The museum sits in several connected halls in a rural part of Oregon and displays over fifty aircraft, spacecraft, and drones. Exhibits range from 1930s biplanes to modern fighter jets and rocket capsules.
The foundation started in the late 1980s as a private project by a family collecting historic aircraft. The famous wooden Hercules seaplane arrived in a new building in 2001 after being transported from California.
The name comes from Oregon's dense forests that stay green throughout the year. Visitors see many machines from World War Two and the Cold War restored by volunteers, telling the story of American aerospace history.
The entrance sits right next to a large parking area from which all building sections can be reached. Plan enough time to look around because the halls are large and offer many details on the exhibits.
On the grounds stands a water park inside a retired Boeing 747 whose slides run through the aircraft cabin. This unusual section combines fun with themes around hydrodynamics and shows how old planes can get new functions.
