Champoeg is an archaeological site and ghost town located in Marion County, Oregon, where traces of historic settlement remain visible across the landscape. The grounds contain remnants of buildings, structures, and artifacts that reveal how people lived and worked at this once-active settlement.
This settlement developed in the early 1800s as a trading post serving people and merchants moving through the region. The site was eventually abandoned as economic activity shifted elsewhere and people relocated to newer communities with better opportunities.
