Langley, Administrative city in Metro Vancouver, Canada
Langley is a standalone city south of the Fraser River in the Metro Vancouver area, covering a compact territory. The small municipality sits on slightly elevated terrain and is entirely surrounded by the neighboring Township of Langley, with which it shares only a name.
The area was once known as Innes Corners before residents voted in a 1955 referendum to separate from the surrounding township. Independence was achieved with overwhelming support, creating the current city administration.
Douglas Park functions as a central gathering space for the community, featuring an adventure playground and the Langley Spirit Square performance platform for outdoor entertainment.
Visitors will find several public parks with playgrounds, sports facilities, and designated dog areas spread across the city. The compact size makes it easy to navigate on foot or by bicycle, with most amenities within short reach.
A new SkyTrain connection to Vancouver is expected to open in 2028, significantly improving access to the larger metropolitan area. The station will provide commuters and visitors with a direct rail link to the downtown core.
