Camp North Bend, Historic labor camp in North Bend, Washington, United States.
Camp North Bend is a historic labor camp in North Bend consisting of multiple wood-frame buildings constructed in the 1930s. The site includes four connected barracks with shared kitchen and recreation facilities, along with additional service structures.
The camp was established in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps to house about 200 men working on forest and conservation projects during the Great Depression. The facility was later taken over by the Highline School District and converted into an environmental education center.
The site serves as an outdoor learning center where students experience environmental education among the original structures. Visitors can see how the buildings support hands-on learning about forests and conservation.
The grounds are easily navigable with clear pathways connecting the different building areas and open spaces for walking. Wear comfortable shoes and visit during daylight hours if you want to look inside the barracks and other structures.
This is the only fully preserved example of 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps camp construction in King County. The site shows how these facilities were actually built and organized from that era.
