Edmonds, Coastal city in Snohomish County, United States.

Edmonds is a coastal city in Snohomish County, Washington, stretching along Puget Sound with views across the water toward the Olympic Mountains and Cascade Range. A ferry terminal connects the town to the Kitsap Peninsula, and the historic downtown sits a short walk from the waterfront with shops and restaurants lining streets in low-rise buildings.

Logger George Brackett arrived at this shore in 1876 and founded a settlement that became an incorporated city in 1890. The timber trade and later the ferry connection across Puget Sound shaped the growth of the community over more than a century.

The settlement takes its name from shipping magnate George Edmonds, whose vessels once carried timber from the region. Residents walk the waterfront promenade watching ferries cross to the opposite shore, while shops and cafés occupy restored buildings along the main street downtown.

The ferry to Kingston runs regularly throughout the day and offers a direct connection to the Kitsap Peninsula for foot passengers and vehicles. The downtown core is easy to explore on foot and most paths are level, allowing visitors to move comfortably between the waterfront and shops.

An underwater park off the coast serves as a training ground for divers and contains sunken structures that form artificial reefs. On some days, sea lions appear near the shore and rest on docks or rocks along the beach.
