Lions Bay

Lions Bay is a coastal village stretching along the western shore of Howe Sound with residential neighborhoods framed by natural forest. Mountain ranges and coastal landscapes define the area's geography and create a setting where water and forest meet.

The place began as a fishing settlement before becoming an incorporated municipality in 1967. This transformation brought new governance structures and a shift toward residential development within the Metro Vancouver region.

The community here centers on close-knit neighborhood bonds, visible through local gatherings and shared outdoor pursuits. Residents actively use the natural surroundings as part of their everyday life, shaping how the village functions.

The village sits roughly 40 kilometers north of Vancouver and is reachable by road. Visitors will find hiking trails, water activities, and basic services, with the community managing its own water independently.

The name comes from two mountain peaks visible from Howe Sound that form lion-shaped silhouettes when seen from certain angles. These distinctive rock formations are a defining landmark of the local landscape.
